David Nation, MD, FACS, is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, followed by his vascular surgery fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nation has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 2015.
Dr. Nation is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He specializes in all areas of endovascular and vascular surgery. His special interests include treatment of aortic aneurysmal disease, endovascular and open surgical treatment of peripheral vascular disease, and treatment of carotid stenosis.
He is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Travis County Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, Parkland Surgical Society, and the Texas Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. In addition, he has presented and published multiple papers in the field of vascular surgery.

When my husband went to my orthopedic surgeon for his back pain, he got an MRI and discovered we needed a vascular surgeon, we didn't know where to turn. Actually, I requested a copy, read about the aortic aneurysm, "see a vascular surgeon" it said. I read that MYSELF. Nobody TOLD ME A THING. I even checked the size.... Uh oh. Anyway, a special person recommended Dr. Nation to us, and he was kind, reassuring, extremely knowledgeable, plus being personable. So we are extremely happy with how we were treated. Dr. Nation took the time to answer my questions and assured me, based on my recent CT scan, that my aorta looks good and I can go forward with a surgery involving another part of my body. He even stepped out of the examining room for a brief moment, in order to verify an exact measurement on my CT scan, after I asked a specific question. Dr. Nation is kind and knowledgeable and I feel that I am in good hands, having him look after my cardiovascular health. Support staff is also among the best. I've been a nurse for over40 years,so I have a considerable amount of time dealing with physicians. I want to say there are excellent surgeons you meet BUT they have a lowsy bedside manner. Dr Nation cared for my husband (also a nurse)until he died. He treated him with the utmost dignity and respect. His responses to our questions were honest but delivered in such a kind manner. Never once did he chastise him for his terrible life choics. He never took away his hope.

I’ve seen Dr. David Nation 4 times and have been impressed every time with his professionalism, knowledge, respect and calm presence. He asks pertinent questions and, not only listens, but ponders my response. His care and concern for me and my wellbeing have never been questionable.
