What is Venous Duplex Imaging?

Venous Duplex Imaging is not a treatment itself but rather a simple procedure we perform for diagnostic purposes to help plan for a treatment such as sclerotherapy, endovenous ablation, and minimally invasive vein surgery. Duplex imaging utilizes ultrasound technology to visualize a vein in order to determine its exact anatomy, detect any blockages, gauge blood flow, and assess abnormal valves.

Venous duplex imaging is painless and non-invasive. No needles, incisions, or dyes are required. An imaging wand is simply guided over the affected areas to produce an internal view of the vein.

VeinSolutions has its own state-of-the-art vascular lab onsite to perform this procedure.

Am I a good candidate for venous duplex imaging?

Yes. If you suspect varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis or experience frequent and painful swollen legs, you should discuss venous duplex imaging with our providers. Additionally, if you are already scheduled for any one of our cosmetic and therapeutic treatments to treat varicose veins, you will need this procedure done beforehand.

What are the risks or side effects of venous duplex imaging?

There are no risks or side effects associated with venous duplex imaging. It is a simple, painless, and non-invasive imaging procedure used to diagnose vein disorders.
